Position Overview
We are seeking a creative, detail-oriented 2D Animator with 1 to 4 years of experience to join our core game production team. In this role, your primary focus will be creating dynamic 2D skeletal/mesh animations in Spine 2D for slot symbols, characters, UI components, reel transitions, and crash game visual events. You will also leverage Adobe After Effects for motion graphics, VFX compositing, and visual prototype creation.
Key Responsibilities
Spine 2D Rigging & Animation: Prepare assets, build efficient skeletons, perform mesh deformation, and animate 2D characters, symbols, UI elements, and background assets optimized for real-time game engines.
Slot & Crash Game Motion Design: Animate symbol win states, high-pay character interactions, reel spin dynamics, multiplier counters, rocket/curve animations for crash games, and big win celebration overlays.
VFX & Compositing: Utilize Adobe After Effects to design visual effects (sparks, glows, particle bursts, fluid transitions) and create motion mockups to establish visual timing prior to engine integration.
Technical Asset Optimization: Ensure all texture atlases, JSON animation files, and sprite sheets are tightly packed, memory-efficient, and optimized for high-frame-rate performance (60fps) across mobile and web browsers.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with UI/UX designers, 2D illustrators, and game developers/engineers to ensure seamless integration into HTML5/Unity game engines.
Requirements & Qualifications
Experience: 1–4 years of professional game animation experience with a strong portfolio/showreel demonstrating Spine 2D work.
Primary Skill: Expert proficiency in Spine 2D (Skeletal animation, Mesh weighting, Inverse Kinematics, Skinning, Texture Packing).
Secondary Skill: Working knowledge of Adobe After Effects (Motion graphics, particle systems, compositing) and Adobe Photoshop (Asset slicing and layer prep).
Domain Familiarity: Good understanding of iGaming visual mechanics (symbol pay animations, win level thresholds, loop cycles) or crash game mechanics.
Technical Game Art Know-How: Understanding of draw calls, atlas size constraints, frame budgets, and export formats (JSON, PNG atlases).
Communication: Strong communication skills and self-discipline to thrive in a remote or hybrid workflow.
Nice-to-Have Skills
Experience integrating animations directly into Unity or PixiJS / Phaser HTML5 game engines.
Basic scripting knowledge in After Effects (Expressions) or Spine event triggers.
Familiarity with particle plugins (e.g., Trapcode Particular).
